Only too often the victims of child sexual abuse are characterised as ; people seeking attention ; full of self-pity ; selfish ; gold diggers.

All of these slurs serve to stigmatise victims and add to their trauma when seeking justice for the abuse they have received.

Sexual abuse in childhood incurs lifelong harms, and those that deny this add to the burden that victims carry.
